Support for transitions, trauma, and healthcare professionals.
Time to Shine Therapy Services brings a social work lens to your counselling sessions. My aim is to create a safe space where you can feel heard and accepted, no matter who you are or what you’re going through.
I warmly welcome you to book your session, or book a complimentary 15-minute consult to meet me, or go ahead and send me an email. Note: sliding scale fees are available to those in need; please email me to discuss.

Physicians, First Responders, Nurses & Healthcare Workers
With 20+ years of experience working in healthcare, I often see physicians, nurses, first responders, and other healthcare workers who are dealing with trauma symptoms from their line of work and/or going through their own personal challenges, and they need a safe place to talk about it.
If you see yourself in this category, I want to acknowledge the unique challenges you often face in accessing support. You are viewed as the expert, and there is a sense that you are expected to always have it together. You may be afraid that if you see a therapist you will be viewed as less capable.
I bring humour and a sense of ease to my sessions, and I am well-versed in the healthcare system and all its inherent challenges, from the impact of the work itself, to the complications of the broader system, to the sometimes toxic workplace dynamics and the high-stress, high-pressure nuances of this kind of work.
I create an environment that is safe and private for you to disclose and talk about difficult situations. Your ‘not public-facing’ stuff is welcome here, and the providers I see leave their sessions feeling much better for simply having an outlet where they can take off the mask they wear and admit that they don’t always have it all figured out.
Leaving an Abusive Relationship & Health Transformation
I enjoy helping women who are on a journey of health reformation and/or weight loss; or who are thinking about or in the process of leaving an unhealthy or abusive relationship.
Although our journeys are not the same, I have my own lived experience in both of these areas, so I ‘get it’ on a deeper level.
With my background in social work, I do more than just support you in your decision-making process; I can can provide resources and help you put together a plan.
It can be hard to talk about these things with someone who hasn’t been in a similar situation – they don’t always understand the more subtle barriers and challenges. I create a safe space for you to be yourself and say out loud the thing you’ve hesitated to say. I will meet you where you’re at, and we might even find a little humour along the way.
Adjusting to a New Diagnoses or Palliative Journey
Everybody needs somebody. Even more so when you find yourself in an unexpectedly scary or uncertain situation.
I enjoy working with people who are facing a difficult transition or a new medical diagnosis, and/or people who are adjusting to long-term illness or facing a palliative journey.
I have many years of experience working in end of life care. Before becoming a social work therapist I worked as a care aid, so if you are having a hard time adjusting to an altered health situation, an unexpected diagnosis, or you are making plans for palliative care and end of life decisions, I have a great deal of understanding and experience with what you are going through. I bring my social work lens to help you with planning and hard decisions, and I also create a container for our sessions that feels safe and comfortable, and I usually manage to bring a little humour to the table at some point as well.
If you see yourself in this area of focus, I warmly invite you to book in with me. You shouldn’t have to feel alone as you face what’s ahead.
